The Sweetest Thing Themed Baby Shower

For Thanksgiving, we were blessed to be able to fly south to celebrate the holiday and thought that throwing a baby shower in warm weather would be a great idea. It was supposed to rain, but luckily mother nature decided we should enjoy the rooftop garden.

Before I talk about the amazing shower, let's talk about my midi dress. I bought this during the two weeks early Black Friday sale - everything was 60 % off, how could I resist? It's true to size and the fabric quality is top notch - thick and forgiving, perfect for my baby bump. I bought the smallest size, a size 4. It comes in 8+ different colors, from white to grey, mine was Desert Rose.  When it comes to dresses, I'm a huge fan of the "off-the-shoulder" style, so of course this was no different. It comes with double tiered ruffles that give off the hour glass silhouette.  I paired it with  blocked heel nubuck sandals [the lower the better - helps with back pain during pregnancy] and pearl stud earrings. I wanted the look to be simple and classy.

Our shower theme was the "Sweetest Thing". You may have heard me say it before when we announced that Aaron and I were expecting. Let's be honest, the reason why this was our theme was because I LOVE sweets and there's nothing sweeter than expecting a baby girl. Having a delicious dessert table with all my favorite treats was a bonus.

FUN FACT: The entire dessert table from the strategically placed florals and desserts themselves (besides two cakes and the cookies) were curated/baked by Princess Jasmine [aka mom] and me! Mom even cut the leafy branches from her garden bushes.

FLORALS: Baby's breath makes any event better and I wanted to have the shower to feel like how it was on our wedding day - whimsical [with a touch of shabby chic]. Believe it or not, the table is my mom's study desk - I loved the color of the wood, it had a rustic feel, so we used it as the table. We put some greenery and baby's breath in the drawers - which I thought was a nice touch. The garlands with pink florals were on sale for $8 at Michaels [when seasons change, they have great deals on past season's selections]. The baby's breath was from Trader Joe's [one bouquet was more than enough].

DESSERTS [from L to R]: To prevent the table from looking flat, we bought an array of tiered platters and glass containers. I also wanted it to look as clean as possible - keeping the main color white with accents of blush and gold. The two left tiered containers had yummy  pink and white marshmallows, topped with meringue. For the shower games' winners, we had chocolate truffles from Angelina's in Paris [best chocolate EVER!].

The round cake had a sponge texture and pandan flavored [my favorite filipino dessert].  We asked the baker to keep it white and we added the baby's breath and ball shaped white sprinkles. The popsicle bars were rice krispy treats, hand dipped in white chocolate with gold flakes.

The macaron tower was made using a 9" cone foam, wrapping saran wrap around it and putting on a thin layer of buttercream icing. I then used toothpicks to pin on the macarons [watch my instagram stories under the RECIPES instastory highlights - HERE]. Lastly, there was also hand dipped white chocolate pretzel rods and M&Ms using the Kee Pieces logo as "Baby Pieces".

We added a donut wall because donuts are Aaron's favorite. I had gold flakes that I sprinkled on the powdered ones. The onesie cake was a pineapple poke cake covered with whipped cream and was made from scratch by yours truly!

To top it off, we even had a mimosa bar! Mine of course was virgin, the peach mango orange flavor was to die for. Honestly, the shower wouldn't have been as beautiful and surreal if it weren't for our loving family who made it all possible. Thank you so much to everyone who attended and helped out, Aaron and I are so thankful and blessed for all of you. If this is the love we were shown, we can only imagine how much our baby girl will receive when she finally gets here!
